Baseball Game Preview: Alvirne Broncos vs. Bishop Guertin Cardinals

Alvirne hasn't had much luck against Bishop Guertin recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Broncos will take on the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Alvirne is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 11-2 to Pinkerton.

Alvirne saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Mitchell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Mitchell has snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Bishop Guertin faced Exeter in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Blue Hawks, falling 8-2. The Cardinals have struggled against the Blue Hawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Alvirne's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Bishop Guertin, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Alvirne couldn't quite get it done against Bishop Guertin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
