Basketball Recap: Boyd Anderson Cobras vs. Cypress Bay Lightning
Boyd Anderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 51-16 defeat at the hands of the Cypress Bay Lightning. While losing is never fun, the Cobras can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Lightning are ranked 93rd).
Several Cobras players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amariah Tomlinson, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Garnia Beauvais, who had five points along with 11 boards and three steals.
Cypress Bay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Agam Gago out in front who scored seven points and three steals. Gago is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Gonano, who earned six points.
Boyd Anderson's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Cypress Bay, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Boyd Anderson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-36 defeat against Taravella on the 27th. Cypress Bay has also already played their next contest, a 55-23 win against West Broward on the 27th.
