Football Recap: Canyon View Jaguars vs. Verrado Vipers
Canyon View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Verrado Vipers. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vipers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Canyon View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gavin Levin and Keegan McCarthy. McCarthy also made four total tackles, which is notable because Canyon View is 2-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-5 otherwise. Canyon View got some further help from Jackson McCarthy: he picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Jack Isidore was his usual excellent self, rushing for 176 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.4 yards per carry for Verrado. The dominant performance gave Isidore a new career-high in rushing yards. Caden Gingg was in the mix too, providing Verrado with two touchdowns.
Canyon View's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Verrado, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Canyon View will face off against Sunrise Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Verrado, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Desert Edge at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 863 yards in their previous games.
