Softball Recap: Smithfield-Selma Comes Up Short

Smithfield-Selma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Nash Central Bulldogs, falling 24-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 30-5 back in February.

Smithfield-Selma's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Nash Central, they moved to 6-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithfield-Selma will venture away from home to take on Southern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Saints at the right time seeing as the Saints are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Nash Central, they will head out to square off against Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Gryphons will have lost eight straight heading into Thursday's match.
