Recap: Vassar Vulcans vs. Bad Axe Hatchets
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Vassar Vulcans ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They escaped with a win against Bad Axe by the margin of a single free throw, 49-48. The win made it back-to-back wins for Vassar.
It was another big night for Austin Long, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Vassar's points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brown, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Vassar is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-15 record this season. As for Bad Axe, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vassar will take on Laker at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bad Axe, they will head out on the road to square off against Unionville-Sebewaing at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bad Axe has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
