Preview: Cambridge Christian Lancers vs. Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors

Cambridge Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Zephyrhills Christian Academy Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Cambridge Christian strolled past Foundation Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 62-47.

Cambridge Christian relied on the efforts of Zay Burton, who scored 20 points, and Caden Martinez, who scored 21 points. Burton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Proffitt, who scored six points.

Zephyrhills Christian Academy has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Academy at the Lakes by a score of 53-43 last Monday.

Jordani Blanc was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Blake Alford was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

The victory got Cambridge Christian back to even at 7-7. As for Zephyrhills Christian Academy, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cambridge Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 14.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Zephyrhills Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 22.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Cambridge Christian beat Zephyrhills Christian Academy 80-68 in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Will Cambridge Christian repeat their success, or does Zephyrhills Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
