Softball Game Preview: Rowan County Vikings vs. Blazer Tomcats

The Rowan County Vikings will challenge the Blazer Tomcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rowan County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Rowan County proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let East Carter get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Kassi Perkins, who gave up just two hits to keep East Carter off the board.

On the hitting side, Rowan County's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Diamond Wills, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Malana Hamm was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Blazer waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Musketeers with a sharp 6-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tomcats have posted against the Musketeers since March 21, 2022.

Rowan County pushed their record up to 23-6 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Blazer, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Rowan County couldn't quite get it done against Blazer in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 as they fell 17-12. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
