Softball Recap: Conneaut's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Conneaut can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Grand Valley Mustangs with a sharp 11-5 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Spartans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Lexi Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Sherman, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Grace Todaro also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Conneaut kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand Valley only managed six hits.

Conneaut picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-10. As for Grand Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conneaut will head out to challenge Girard at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grand Valley, they will venture away from home to square off against Bristol at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
