Basketball Recap: Berry Takes a Loss

After flying high against West Blocton last Thursday, Berry came back down to earth. The Berry Wildcats came up short against the Hubbertville Lions on Friday, falling 62-36. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Leading Hubbertville to victory were Georgia Gardner and Addison Tucker. Gardner dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals, while Tucker went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight assists and five steals. With that strong performance, Gardner is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Layla Frederick was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Berry's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Hubbertville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Berry Wildcats challenge the Brilliant Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hubbertville, they will take on Phillips at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
