Softball Recap: Lawrence Academy Beats Pungo Christian Academy for Their Fourth Straight Win

Lawrence Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past the Pungo Christian Academy Raiders 20-1. The match marked the Warriors' most dominant win of the season so far.

Lilly Brower was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Brower was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Claire Smith was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaslene Ethridge, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Lawrence Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .452 or higher in four consecutive games.

Lawrence Academy's record now sits at 5-2. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence Academy will take on Northeast Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pungo Christian Academy, they will challenge Ridgecroft at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Pungo Christian Academy has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
