Softball Recap: Frankenmuth Extends Winning Streak to Four

Frankenmuth extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 15-4 in the process. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Swan Valley Vikings a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Eagles have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Compau made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miranda Polley was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Mady Goodwin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Frankenmuth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swan Valley only managed one hit.

As for Swan Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. The matchup marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Swan Valley's side, Mia Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up nine Ks.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frankenmuth will welcome Lakeville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Swan Valley, they will face off against Birch Run at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
