Volleyball Game Preview: Highland Huskies vs. Saugerties Sawyers

The Highland Huskies will head out on the road to take on the Saugerties Sawyers at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Highland managed to slip by Millbrook the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Huskies lost 3-0 to the Blazers on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

While Highland was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Millbrook's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-17, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Saugerties unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Mount Academy, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Sawyers have suffered since October 18, 2024.

While Saugerties was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-17, 25-23.

Saugerties' defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Everything went Highland's way against Saugerties in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, as Highland made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
