Softball Recap: Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-9 in the process. They fell 11-7 to the Orosi Cardinals. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Orosi, they pushed their record up to 7-15-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games.

For Orosi's part, Miah Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Lopez has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Nicole Melchor was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Victoria Nieto was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Summit Charter Collegiate Academy will be playing at home against Orange Cove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Orosi, they will take on Delano at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
