Basketball Recap: Shamrock Piles Up the Points Against Hedley

Shamrock's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-28 victory over the Hedley Owls. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 29-9.

Shamrock's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Philip Cook led the charge by putting up nine points and five steals. Cook is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Ishee, who posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Shamrock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Hedley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Payton Inman earned eight points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Kyler Booth, who put up six points.

Shamrock has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-14 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Hedley, they dropped their record down to 3-15 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Shamrock has already played their next match, a 34-32 defeat against White Deer on the 28th. As for Hedley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 95-21 loss against McLean on the 28th.
