Baseball Recap: Seton Hall Prep Gets the Win

Seton Hall Prep won the last time they faced Nutley and things went their way on Monday too. The Pirates walked away with a 12-7 win over the Raiders. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Joseph Pontoriero got the start for Seton Hall Prep and what a start it was: he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Pontoriero has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jordan Burwell was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Davis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Seton Hall Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nutley didn't launched any.

Seton Hall Prep's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Nutley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.

Seton Hall Prep and Nutley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings. The Pirates will square off against Chaminade at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (14 vs. 101). Meanwhile, Nutley (ranked 66th) will meet Barringer (ranked 283rd) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
