Softball Recap: Egg Harbor Township Comes Up Short

Egg Harbor Township was the 9-0 winner over Cedar Creek when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles lost 12-6 to the Pirates on Wednesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mary Del Re was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Kaci Velardi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Egg Harbor Township's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Cedar Creek, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Egg Harbor Township will head out to face off against St. Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cedar Creek, they are taking a road trip to take on Atlantic County Institute of Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
