Western Boone (Thorntown, Ind.) senior guard Madison Jones had a night last week not many in Indiana hoops history have matched. Soak that in.

In an 87-30 win over North Montgomery (Crawfordsville, Ind.), Jones broke her own school record with 59 points and surpassed 2,000 for her career. That’s the fourth highest single-game scoring mark in Indiana girls basketball history according to IHSAA.org.

The record-setting effort followed another big outing for Jones who netted 50 points in a 69-67 win over Benton Central (Oxford, Ind.) just two days prior. Jones scored 49 in a season-opening win over West Lafayette (West Lafayette, Ind.) to become her school’s all-time leading scorer

A Davenport University recruit, Jones is averaging 28.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 3.5 assists this season. For her career (97 varsity games) she is averaging 20.8 points.

Double Trouble: Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (Hector, Minn.) junior Sara Kottke recently surpassed 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. She also posted a school single-game record 50 points (and 15 boards) in a 69-52 win over Cedar Mountain (Morgan, Minn.). Kottke is averaging 25 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.
