Volleyball Game Preview: Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes vs. Coastal Christian Centurions

Cape Fear Academy hasn't had much luck against Coastal Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hurricanes are taking a road trip to challenge the Centurions at 6:00 p.m. Coastal Christian took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cape Fear Academy, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Cape Fear Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Arendell Parrott Academy, taking the game 3-1.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 26-24, 25-15.

Lila Hammer and Kate Hancock were among the main playmakers for Cape Fear Academy as the former had 20 assists and ten digs and the latter had 12 digs. Hammer is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season.

Cape Fear Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Coastal Christian suffered their biggest loss since September 5th on Wednesday. They came up short against Hoggard, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Centurions in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.

The final score came out to 25-9, 25-14, 25-13.

Coastal Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Cape Fear Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season.
