Basketball Recap: Ridgeview Global Studies Academy Explorers vs. Frostproof Bulldogs
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 67-43 to the Frostproof Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Explorers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-44 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Ridgeview Global Studies Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jacob Andre went 8 of 11 on his way to 20 points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Andre has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bryan Lopez-Vergel, who went 5 for 7 en route to 11 points and eight boards.
Zavier Powell was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds for Frostproof. Those 14 boards gave Powell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhi Guillaume, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Frostproof, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-27 loss against All Saints' Academy on the 29th. Frostproof has also already played their next matchup, a 58-37 defeat against Fort Meade on the 28th.
