Softball Recap: Northridge Polar Bears vs. Riverside Pirates
Northridge extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-12. They came up short against the Riverside Pirates, falling 13-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 on April 7th.
As for Riverside, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 14-1).
For Riverside's part, Emilee Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Robinson has posted over her last six games. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Riverside let Chloe Purtee and Molly Carman run wild. Purtee got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Carman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Purtee has posted since April 4th. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Strayer, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.
