Soccer Game Preview: Mountain Ridge vs. Mesa

The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will head out on the road to take on the Mesa Jackrabbits at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Friday, Mountain Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Millennium and fell 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mountain Lions came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Tigers are ranked 86th).

Meanwhile, Mesa had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They skirted past the Mustangs 2-1. Ivan Soto had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Jackrabbits.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 10-4. As for Mountain Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4-1.

Mountain Ridge came up short against Mesa when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 2-0. Can Mountain Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
