Football Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory + How To Watch

Mater Dei Catholic extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 5-3. They blew past the Otay Ranch Mustangs 35-9. Considering the Crusaders have won three matchups by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordan Dumaran was his usual excellent self, rushing for 206 yards and three scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 112.9 rushing yards per game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mater Dei Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 299 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

As for Otay Ranch, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Mater Dei Catholic is ranked 137th).

Despite the loss, Otay Ranch still got an impressive performance from Jaidon Castillo, who rushed for 89 yards and one TD.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th. As for Otay Ranch, they will welcome Eastlake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
