Basketball Recap: Northfield Norsemen vs. Manchester Squires
The Northfield Norsemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 68-32 loss at the hands of Manchester. While losing is never fun, Northfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Squires are ranked 80th).
Despite the loss, Northfield still got an impressive performance from carter rodgers, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ty Leming, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Gavin Betten, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Manchester. Betten has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Martin, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Northfield has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Manchester, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Northfield will take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Manchester, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
