Basketball Game Preview: Mount Desert Island Trojans vs. Ellsworth Eagles

The Mount Desert Island Trojans will take on the Ellsworth Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Ellsworth is hoping to do what Hermon couldn't on Monday: put an end to Mount Desert Island's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Mount Desert Island walked away with a 56-47 victory over Hermon.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ellsworth). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Houlton 66-32. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Shiretowners are ranked 93rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mount Desert Island's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Ellsworth, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Mount Desert Island came up short against Ellsworth in their previous matchup back in February, falling 60-48. Can Mount Desert Island avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
