Softball Recap: Marshall Gets the Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marshall). They blew past the SA Roosevelt Rough Riders 16-1 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Rough Riders: they've now won seven in a row.

Marshall got a massive performance out of Catalina Zuniga, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, Zuniga also posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Bermea, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Marshall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Marshall's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for SA Roosevelt, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Marshall will venture away from home to face off against Warren at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marshall is facing Warren at the right time seeing as Warren is stuck on a four-game losing streak. SA Roosevelt will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on John Paul II at 5:00 p.m. on February 25th.
