Softball Recap: Ballard Wins Going Away Against East Jessamine

Ballard won the last time they faced East Jessamine and things went their way on Friday too. Ballard blew past East Jessamine 13-7. Considering the Bruins have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubrie Newton was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Ryleah Lawrence was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Newton wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Ballard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Ballard now has a winning record of 3-2. As for East Jessamine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ballard will venture away from home to challenge Pulaski County at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for East Jessamine, they will head out to face off against Lafayette at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lafayette will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something East Jessamine surely won't give up without a fight.
