Soccer Recap: Schaumburg Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Schaumburg won the last time they faced Wheeling and things went their way on Thursday too. The Saxons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 2-1. Given Schaumburg's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Wheeling are ranked 244th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Matt Mianowany and Mati Krzanowski scored both of Schaumburg's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Schaumburg's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Wheeling, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9-3 record this season.

Schaumburg wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Prospect on the 11th. As for Wheeling, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 0-0 draw against Elk Grove on the 14th.
