Baseball Recap: Cherryville Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Lincoln last Monday, Cherryville came back down to earth. The Cherryville Ironmen fell just short of the Crest Chargers by a score of 17-16 on Wednesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (ten), the Ironmen still had to take the loss.

Parker Anderson put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other batting news, Davin Digh was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Withers, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Cherryville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Crest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Looking ahead, Cherryville will square off against South Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crest, they will take on Burns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
