Volleyball Preview: Upsala Cardinals vs. Pine River-Backus Tigers

Upsala is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Osakis. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Silverstreaks 25-20 in the first set.
Upsala started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-20.
Corryn McDermond put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 14 digs.
Meanwhile, Pine River-Backus posted their biggest victory since September 26th on Thursday. Everything went their way against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley as Pine River-Backus made off with a 3-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Upsala's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Pine River-Backus, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-11.
Upsala came up short against Pine River-Backus in their previous meeting back in September, falling 2-0. Can Upsala avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
