Football Game Preview: Marist RedHawks vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

The Marist RedHawks will head out on the road to face off against the Providence Catholic Celtics at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marist will be strutting in after a victory while Providence Catholic will be coming in after a loss.

Marist is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: IC Catholic Prep, who was ranked 20th at the time (Marist was ranked 22nd). In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the RedHawks made off with a 29-28 win over the Knights. The RedHawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Providence Catholic came up short against St. Francis on Friday and fell 47-35.

Marist's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Providence Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Marist took their win against Providence Catholic in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 28-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the RedHawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
