Recap: Dixie County Bears vs. Lafayette Hornets
The Dixie County Bears waltzed into their game on Tuesday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They walked away with a 39-26 victory over Lafayette. For Dixie County, this counts as revenge for the 42-32 defeat Lafayette walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Dixie County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakayla Henderson, who scored 15 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Henderson has scored at least a third of Dixie County's points. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Brown, who scored 11 points.
Lafayette's loss came despite strong showings from Sophia Kendrick and Kelby Lyons. Kendrick scored six points along with 13 rebounds and three steals, while Lyons scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Dixie County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Trenton the next time they take the court. Lafayette will host Trenton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Dixie County will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
