Recap: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Central Bears

The Weeki Wachee Hornets can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Saturday. They really took it to Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-13 win at home. With Weeki Wachee ahead 40-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Weeki Wachee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joelys Rodriguez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Rodriguez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlee Schumacher, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Delanee Duncan, who scored six points.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Weeki Wachee racked up 14 assists.

The victory makes it two in a row for Weeki Wachee and bumps their season record up to 13-7. As for Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.

Weeki Wachee's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Crystal River at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Crystal River is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Central, Central and Citrus will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Citrus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Thursday.
