Overton took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Beckville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bearcats 5-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won six matches in a row.

Rylan Holleman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Holleman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braxton Harper, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Mason Rowe was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Overton pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Beckville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-4.

Overton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bearcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
