Basketball Game Preview: Plainville Cardinals vs. Trego Golden Eagles

Plainville is 0-10 against Trego since January of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Plainville Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Trego Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Plainville challenged Ellsworth on Tuesday. Plainville was outmatched by Ellsworth and fell 59-24. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Bearcats are ranked 119th).

Trego hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They strolled past Plainville with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 47-30.

Trego's win came from a few key players Plainville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tegan Lang, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Leah Day, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Trego smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Trego's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Plainville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

Plainville ended up a good deal behind Trego in their previous meeting on Saturday, losing 47-30. Can Plainville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
