Softball Recap: Wakulla Wins Going Away Against Bishop Kenny

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wakulla walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Bishop Kenny Crusaders with a sharp 10-0 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the War Eagles in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won six in a row.

Bishop Kenny's batters probably weren't too happy with Charley Butler, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Butler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brianna Stephens and Cylie Long did most of the damage at the plate: Stephens went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Long got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Parker Stubbs, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Wakulla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Kenny struck out 11 times.

Wakulla's victory bumped their record up to 20-4-1. As for Bishop Kenny, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

Coming up, Wakulla will square off against West Florida at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the War Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Bishop Kenny does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
