Softball Game Preview: Economedes Jaguars vs. Weslaco Panthers

Economedes is 0-3 against Weslaco since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Economedes Jaguars challenge Weslaco Panthers at 7:00 p.m.

Economedes is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-4 to La Joya, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Weslaco waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Weslaco's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Economedes, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Economedes might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Weslaco in their previous matchup back in March of 2020. Can Economedes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
