Recap: Phoenix Christian Cougars vs. Northland Prep Academy Spartans
The Phoenix Christian Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 31-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northland Prep Academy. Phoenix Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northland Prep Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Northland Prep Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noe Rhon, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Nat Auker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Phoenix Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Northland Prep Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix Christian will take on Fountain Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Fountain Hills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Phoenix Christian in Arizona (Fountain Hills is ranked 69th, while Phoenix Christian is ranked 231st). As for Northland Prep Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Highland Prep at 5:30 p.m.
