Volleyball Recap: Gretna Beats Bellevue East for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Gretna had already won nine in a row and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bellevue East Chieftains with a sharp 3-0 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dragons also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2023.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Gretna took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-14, 25-13.

Gretna's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Zimmerman, who had seven digs and four aces. That's the most aces Zimmerman has posted over her last eight contests. Bella Rangel also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Gretna's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Bellevue East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Gretna will take on Elkhorn in a tournament on Saturday. As for Bellevue East, they will venture away from home to face off against Bellevue West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
