Baseball Preview: Pawhuska Huskies vs. Cleveland Tigers
The Pawhuska Huskies will take on the Cleveland Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pawhuska has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Things were looking good for Pawhuska after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Cleveland by a score of 11-10. Even though they lost, the Huskies' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Corlin Cass was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Vann Wildcat was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Canyon Hindman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Cleveland's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Pawhuska, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
