Baseball Recap: Douglas County West Falcon vs. Adams Central Patriots
Douglas County West extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 7-12 in the process. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Adams Central Patriots. The Falcon were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.
Douglas County West saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Miles Korb, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
As for Adams Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
On Adams Central's side, not much got past Kowen Rader, who gave up just six hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Douglas County West off the board. Rader has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jackson Sughroue was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Mousel, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Coincidentally, Douglas County West and Adams Central will both be playing Omaha Northwest the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Huskies at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Falcon will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
