Game recap: Desert Edge High School Football Team beats Williams Field

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Desert Edge (Goodyear, Ariz.) saw its 17-point lead dwindle to 10, but still managed to hang on and upset Williams Field (Gilbert, Ariz.) 37-27 on Saturday.

The Scorpions were up 17-14 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Sawyer Lung to C.J. Heard in the first quarter.

Desert Edge expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. DE scored three times in the third, including once on a Lung touchdown pass to Kyle Woolard.

With the win the Goodyear school extended its winning streak to 13 games. The Scorpions defeated the Sabercats 38-35 last week.

Jeddediah Fagg played well for the Black Hawks. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.



Lung was the top performer for Desert Edge. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.

Williams Field came in surrendering 17.5 points per game this season. WF struggled against DE, which came in averaging 46.3 points per game.

The loss comes after Williams Field defeated Liberty 53-30 last week. The loss snapped the Gilbert school's 2-game winning streak.
