Football Recap: Boone Grove Wolves vs. Wheeler Bearcats
Boone Grove and Wheeler squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Boone Grove had to settle for second. They took a 13-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheeler Bearcats. The Wolves have struggled against the Bearcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Boone Grove didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mark Rowland and Chris Peters. Another thorn in Wheeler's side was Khaled Alzeer, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Jayden Ortiz was his usual excellent self, rushing for 165 yards and a touchdown for Wheeler. Ortiz's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards. Tyne Vettickal also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
The loss snapped Boone Grove's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-4 record. As for Wheeler, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
