Recap: Pinewood Christian Patriots vs. St. Andrew's Lions
The Pinewood Christian Patriots fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 35-27 victory over St. Andrew's on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Pinewood Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Pinewood Christian was led to victory by Banks Booth and Walker Todd. Booth threw for 221 yards and five touchdowns on only 18 passes, while Todd picked up 161 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amari Cook, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Richaard Williams also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Pinewood Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for St. Andrew's, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinewood Christian will square off against Frederica Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Frederica Academy is ranked 324th, while Pinewood Christian is ranked 308th). As for St. Andrew's, they will head out on the road to face off against Bulloch Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bulloch Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins, St. Andrew's a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
