They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bears 53-51. That's another feather in the cap for Evansville Memorial, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Evansville Memorial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylee Canaan out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Avery Kelley was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Evansville Memorial's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Evansville Central, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4.
Evansville Memorial will take on Evansville Mater Dei at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evansville Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Evansville Bosse at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Evansville Bosse has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 16.
