Basketball Recap: Make It 11 in a Row for Mt. Vernon

On Monday, Mt. Vernon faced Civic Memorial in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mt. Vernon Rams managed a 60-54 win over the Civic Memorial Eagles. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 46-44 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Mt. Vernon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kamaree Pollard, who posted 20 points. Pollard's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Melaina Zedalis was another key player, putting up 15 points.

The victory was the 11th in a row for Mt. Vernon, bringing their record for this year to 14-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for Civic Memorial, they moved to 15-1 with that loss, which also ended their 15-game winning streak.
