Softball Game Preview: Raymondville Bearkats vs. Progreso Red Ants

The Raymondville Bearkats will challenge the Progreso Red Ants at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Raymondville's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Progreso has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Friday, Raymondville didn't have quite enough to beat Rio Hondo and fell 7-6.

Abigail Alfaro and Becca Lopez did some serious damage despite the final result: Alfaro went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Lopez scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Lopez has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Jada Contreras was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Progreso came up short against Santa Rosa on Friday, falling 13-3.

Progreso's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Raymondville, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-13.

Everything went Raymondville's way against Progreso in their previous matchup on Monday, as Raymondville made off with a 15-1 win. Do the Bearkats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Ants turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
