Baseball Game Preview: Klein Cain Hurricanes vs. Klein Collins Tigers

The Klein Cain Hurricanes will head out on the road to challenge the Klein Collins Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Klein Cain comes in on seven and Klein Collins on eight.

If Klein Cain beats Klein Collins with 11 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Hurricanes never let Klein Forest get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Tuesday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Hurricanes this season.

Jackson Fontenette made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blaine Bullard, who scored a run and stole five bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Timothy Melvin, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Klein Cain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Klein Forest only posted an OBP of .217.

Meanwhile, Klein Collins got the win against Magnolia on Friday by a conclusive 8-1.

Klein Collins' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Klein Cain, their record is now 10-6-3.
