Basketball Recap: University Extends Winning Streak to Four

University had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Sterling Tigers by a score of 66-55. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 56-50 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

University's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gage Schminke, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Prestwich, who posted 17 points.

University is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Sterling, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-5.

University and Sterling should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. University (ranked 86th) will meet Weld Central (ranked 295th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Sterling will challenge Fort Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 175 places (66 vs. 241). University is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.9 points per game this season.
