Volleyball Recap: Brazoswood Takes a Loss

Brazoswood was the 3-0 winner over Channelview when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Buccaneers fell 3-1 to the Falcons on Tuesday. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brazoswood started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 12-25, 27-25, 25-10, 25-16.

Ava Fontanella paced Brazoswood's offense, picking up ten kills. Fontanella got some help from Rylee Skinner and her 17 assists. Skinner also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lyla Krikley, racking up two apiece.

Brazoswood's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Channelview, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.

Brazoswood and Channelview could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Buccaneers will take on Paetow at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (776 vs. 216). Meanwhile, Channelview (ranked 799th) will meet Pasadena (ranked 342nd) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
