Softball Recap: Collegiate Cougars vs. Christchurch School Seahorses
Collegiate extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-11. They lost 17-0 to the Christchurch School Seahorses. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahorses this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 two weeks ago.
As for Christchurch School, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
For Christchurch School's part, Avery West made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. West has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Christchurch School got a massive performance out of Rylee Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Taylor has posted since back in April of 2025. Jaclyn Callis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Coming up, Collegiate will challenge Thomas Jefferson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Christchurch School, they will face off against St. Catherine's at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
